What we fix most often in Dallas

Water heaters: repair and replacement

No hot water, a tank weeping at the base or a pilot light that keeps going out? We repair what's worth repairing and replace failing tanks with a new tank or tankless unit, with $150 off the new heater. Replacing a water heater in Dallas generally needs a city plumbing permit and inspection, which the plumber doing the work pulls. See water heater repair, water heater replacement and installation or our water heaters overview.

Emergency plumbing, 24/7

Water through a ceiling at 2 AM or sewage in the shower on a Sunday night: call any time. Our emergency plumbing page covers shut-off steps for houses and condos; after a hard freeze, see frozen pipes.

Drains and sewer lines

Many older Dallas homes still drain through cast iron under the floor and clay pipe out to the city main, and tree roots work into the clay joints. A single sluggish sink is normally a clog in that fixture's own pipe; when several fixtures gurgle together, suspect the main. See drain cleaning, sewer line repair and replacement and video camera inspection.

Gas lines and the Dallas red-tag process

Smell gas? Leave the building first. Don't flip switches or light anything. Once you're outside, call 911 or Atmos Energy, then call us.

If Atmos Energy shuts off or red-tags your gas, it stays off until the piping is repaired and passes a pressure test under a City of Dallas gas test permit, witnessed by a city plumbing inspector, who then releases the meter to Atmos. See gas line repair, gas line installation and our Dallas gas test permit and red tag guide.

Leaks and slab leaks

Dallas sits on Blackland Prairie clay that expands when soaked and contracts in dry spells, straining the water lines under slabs and in yards. A meter that keeps spinning with every tap off, a warm patch of floor or a bill that jumps for no reason calls for leak detection and, if needed, slab leak repair. Commercial plumbing

Restaurants and bars in Deep Ellum, downtown, Bishop Arts and around Fair Park, busiest during the State Fair of Texas each fall, need grease-free drains, safe gas lines and water heaters that keep up. See commercial plumbing, or find every service on our plumbing services page.

Dallas Plumber FAQ

Can I call you at night, and what counts as an emergency?

Yes. Office hours are 8 AM–11 PM daily, with 24/7 emergency service. A burst pipe, a gas smell, sewage backing up or water you can't shut off is an emergency: call (844) 313-1397 at any hour and we send our on-call plumber right away. If you smell gas, leave the building first, don't flip switches or light anything, and call 911 or Atmos Energy from outside, then call us.

Which parts of Dallas do you serve?

All of Dallas. We're based at 2900 Botham Jean Blvd on the south side and cover the Cedars, South Dallas, Fair Park, downtown, Deep Ellum, Oak Cliff, Bishop Arts, Kessler Park, East Dallas, Lakewood, Uptown, Oak Lawn and Pleasant Grove, plus Duncanville, DeSoto, Lancaster, Cedar Hill, Irving, Grand Prairie, Mesquite and Garland.

Does replacing a water heater in Dallas need a permit?

Usually, yes. A water heater replacement in Dallas generally needs a city plumbing permit, followed by an inspection of the finished installation. The plumber doing the replacement pulls the permit, and you can ask about it when you call.

Atmos turned off my gas. How do I get it back on?

The plumber doing the repair pulls a City of Dallas gas test permit and fixes the leak. The piping, from the meter through every building on the lot, is then held at 3 psi while a city plumbing inspector watches for at least 15 minutes. When it passes, the city releases the meter to Atmos Energy and you contact Atmos to reconnect. A city inspection requested after hours costs an extra $300 under a January 2026 city memo.
